MY BACKGROUND:
I'm a marketing manager at Tucows Inc, a wholesale Internet services provider. Previously I worked for a VAR (value-added reseller), marketing security, networking, and business software and services (B2B). Before that I was a unix administrator at Inquent Technologies – a startup webhosting provider at the time (it is now owned by Network Solutions). I started my professional career as a sales/marketing assistant for a Commercial Illustration Agency.
MY INTERESTS & INSPIRATIONS:
I'm enthusiastic about technology, social media, marketing and sales, writing, reading, and researching business ideas and perspectives. I like best practices and classic resources (that are still relevant today), but also enjoy digging into new ideas and technologies. I enjoy finding tools and resources that help me work better and smarter, and sharing those with other people.
My inspiration for this blog comes from other blogs, podcasts, books, people, and life. Some of my favourite thinkers and leaders include Seth Godin, Guy Kawasaki, Tom Peters, Zig Ziglar, Seymour Schulich, Peter Drucker, Jiddu Krishnamurti, and David Suzuki.
WHY THE TITLE PHOTO, AND NAME OF THIS BLOG:
One of my other inspirations is Modern Art which explains the title photo for this blog. I took it on the top floor of MOMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York in September 2006 - just before the time that I started this blog. Though it doesn’t have to do with B2B, I feel inspired by the photo and relate it to creativity (which I don’t think there should be any lack of in B2B Marketing).
About that same time I started listening to podcasts, and one of the very first ones that I heard included the word cadence. I hadn’t heard that word in a long time and loved the way it sounded. I related cadence to rhythm, flow, voice, and cycles, and decided to name this blog – cadenceblog.
WHY I HOPE THIS BLOG MIGHT BE RELEVANT AND INTERESTING:
With my experiences in Marketing, Information Technology, and Illustration & Design, along with my passions (especially writing) and many inspirations - I hope to bring a unique perspective to IT marketing and sales!
I hope you enjoy reading, and I welcome your comments and questions.
